I was reading the forums at archerpride.com and there was a discussion about the history of DLSU in the UAAP. An alumnus (quite old i guess, posted this). This gives us a picture on how well our school does in this basketball tournament. It shows how la salle placed in each year of the UAAP since it joined the league.

1990-1991 1st
1991-1992 1st ( We won it sa basketball court but FEU won it sa board room)
1992-1993 3rd
1993-1994 3rd
1994-1995 2nd
1995-1996 2nd

Blog EntryIs it "la COMPUTER" or "le COMPUTER" in FRENCH?Jun 15, '08 1:45 AM
for everyone
A language instructor was explaining to her class that in French, nouns -
unlike their English counterparts, are grammatically designated as
masculine or feminine.

"House", in French, is feminine - "la maison".
"Pencil", in French, is masculine - "le crayon".

One puzzled student asked, "What gender is computer?" The teacher did not
know, and the word wasn't in her (older) French dictionary. So for fun
she split the class into two groups appropriately enough, by gender and asked
them to decide whether "computer" should be a masculine or feminine noun.
Both groups were required to give four reasons for their recommendation.

The men's group decided that computers should definitely be of the
feminine gender ("la computer"), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other
computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long-term memory
for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself
spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers
should be masculine ("le computer"), because:

1. In order to get their attention, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but they are still clueless;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the
time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you'd
waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model

Well...you decide....

Blog EntryRandom Thoughts #7Jun 7, '08 10:11 AM
for everyone
It's been a very long time since I last clicked on the Post button on my multiply site. To be exact, the last time I posted something was way back ing January 15...and its not even a blog, just some result of an online personality exam that I took during some boring hour.

BLOGGING:

Anyway, its nice to be blogging again despite the fact that I don't know what to blog about. Actually, that is a very lingering question. What is it that people should blog about..A friend of mine and I had a conversation about it some time ago, and another friend of mine even listed down things that he won't blog about. There are people who blog about simple things, like what they had for breakfast or what they are thinking as of this moment, on the other hand there are people who blog about the deepest, darkest most sentimental things. As far as I am concerned, I really can't tell what I will blog about, most of the time things just come to my mind and I start typing. There is a limit though, there are things that I prefer to keep to myself or keep it out of the information superhighway for others to read. I think in blogging, its not what we would write about or not write about, I think the issue is what are we willing to put on the net that others could read.

TV SERIES:

I've been spending a lot of time watching/downloading the different TV series that I could get my hands on. These things can be very very addictive, even for someone who only watches TV when basketball or wrestling or american idol is on. Some of the shows that I watch are Supernatural, Criminal Minds, How I Met Your Mother (extremely funny), Kid Nation, Avatar (just started), Lost (i used to, not updated anymore), Smallville(not updated too). I'm currently download Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital - heard from my sister that it's extremely scary (but that comment comes from someone who is afraid of kittens and lizards..so we'll see)

Basketball Season:

So the NBA Finals are about to end (GO LAKERS!!!) Its nice to see my team back in the finals after 3? 4? years. Yeah. I know Celtics got game 1 but I still have faith in my team. Lakers in six games!! Kevin Garnett is overrated. I just had to say that, never ever really liked the guy..I've got to say that this is the most hyped up NBA finals I have seen in years, because of the given history between this two teams Celtics vs Lakers is the NBA's version of La Salle vs  Ateneo in the UAAP.

Speaking of La Salle and Ateneo, the UAAP will be starting soon. Really excited. It's starts on July 5, 2008. So when that day comes, our one year bragging rights expires. I really pray that I'll be able to get tickets for the July 6 La Salle-Ateneo round 1. Fearless forecast for this season? Its too early to tell, we all haven't seen the teams play but if I'm going to base it solely on who will be the players that teams will have for this coming season (their holdovers from last year and the rookies that I've seen during this Fil-oil preseason tournament), I think the final four would be (in no particular order)- UE,DLSU,UST,FEU...yep no Ateneo..not because I hate the team (I don't actually) but I think  they're really quite lacking in material like now..they do have blue chip rookies on their roster but hey, they're rookies...again its too early to tell (so dont get mad at me..if there are actually people reading my blogs), for the sake of my older sister, I hope Ateneo proves me wrong on this one.

BTW, i just saw the DLSU-ADMU game on TV in the Fil-oil tournament a while ago..Archers won it, coming from behind and stealing the win during overtime despite ateneo's hot outside shooting and JV casio not playing (wrist injury)...DLSU's rookies delivered in the game, Tiu almost killed us again, ALMOST but not quite hehehe...I think La Salle getting two in a row in the UAAP is a GREAT possibility..Keep the Faith

Till next time!

Blog EntryWhich Emoticon Are You?Jan 15, '08 5:15 AM
for everyone
Got this from http://web.tickle.com/tests/emoticon/

David, the emoticon that represents you best is the Sticking-Tongue-Out Face

What's so funny? You are! That's why the emoticon that represents you best is as good-humored as you. No matter if knock-knock jokes, sarcasm, or slapstick get you going, it's clear that you've got more than a couple funny bones in your body.

Getting a laugh out of people isn't always easy, but it seems second nature to you. You're not one to take life too seriously, and you know firsthand that laughter really is the best medicine. It's no wonder people know to look no further than you when they want to have a laugh. Late-night TV had better look out. A hilarious new comic could be on the rise!

Blog EntryWhat's my office party personality?Jan 15, '08 5:07 AM
for everyone

Got this from http://web.tickle.com/tests/officeparty/

David, you're the Comedian

Standing against the wall, twiddling your thumbs, and hiding out by the snack table? Not you! You're much more comfortable when you're brightening a coworker's day, telling a great joke, or just recalling your favorite episode of The Office. A friendly person like you can earn points and make friends at office parties, and maybe that's why you like going so much!

For a social, outgoing character like you, the office party is the perfect place to break the ice and help make sure that everyone's having fun. Just make sure your jokes don't hurt anyone's feelings, and they'll be talking about you the day after, and the day after that, and the day after that...

Blog EntryAddicted to this songJan 13, '08 9:37 PM
for everyone
Probably the best song in their album..and I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this song...hahahaha....

Daughtry - Over You

Now that it's all said and done,
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house.
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess I let you get the best of me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

You took a hammer to these walls,
Dragged the memories down the hall,
Packed your bags and walked away.
There was nothing I could say.
And when you slammed the front door shut,
A lot of others opened up,
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for me.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.

Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running

And I never thought I'd doubt you,

I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years

Well I'm putting my heart back together,
'Cause I got over you.
Well I got over you.
I got over you.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you

Blog EntryWhat Breed of Dog Are You?Jan 12, '08 4:01 AM
for everyone

Took this quiz from: http://web.tickle.com/dog/?c=53178&test=dogogt

David, you're a Golden Retriever!

No bones about it, you're a popular, fun-loving Golden Retriever. Adored by all and too cool for school, you're extroverted and enthusiastic. Your magnetic personality makes you the life of any bash. Since you're a true people-dog, you genuinely love all kinds of social gatherings. Going to parties, dinners, and other shindigs is the best way to add faces to your constantly growing circle of friends. But besides being on the social A-list, you're a confident, well-rounded pup who's definitely something to bark about. Pretty accomplished at anything you set your mind to, your sunny nature and winning ways make you one of everyone's favorite dogs. Woof!

Blog EntryGet to Know Your Self BetterJan 10, '08 8:13 PM
for everyone
Got this from Bebs. You can try this @ http://www.quizbox.com/personality/test82.aspx Get to know yourself better

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend you are looking for:

You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you meet that person.

The seriousness of your love:

You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Got this from Beb's multiply (bebsy.multiply.com)

A CHRISTIAN'S WAY TO REDUCE STRESS
Author Unknown
Dec 29, 2007

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what
may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain.
Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

1. Pray

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that
will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.

7. Less is more.. (Although one is often not enough, two are often
too
many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over
time; don't lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find
out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you
can't
do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary
purchases.

13 . Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house
key
buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent
an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.

16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right.

19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality
of life.

21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot.. Try to nip small
problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try
and pray.

24. Make friends with Godly people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is
often a good "Thank you Jesus."

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they
can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33. Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the
universe.

36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for
that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING
THINGS AROUND FOR YOU. "If God is for us, who can be against us?"
(Romans 8:31)

Blog EntryI WAS TAGGED (6 things about me)Dec 30, '07 2:30 AM
for everyone
Both sherry and apollo tagged me a long time ago..so here's 6 stuff about me:

Rules: The first player of this game starts with the "6 weird things/habits about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a blog of their 6 weird habits/things, as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read yours.

1 There are a lot of things that I keep to myself. I consider myself as a very sociable person but I like to keep my personal life well...personal. Sure, I tell people about some things every once in a while, but there are A LOT that I'd rather keep to myself. I find it very very very difficult to open up to other people, even up to now. Even with my parents and siblings.

2 I only share personal stuff with the people that I really trust and respect. If I share my deepest darkest secrets with someone outside the family, it means that I hold that person in such high regard and I trust that person so much that I'd trust him/her with my life.

3 I am addicted to Nestle Chuckie!! Kung pwede lang uminom nun all the time iinom ako, pero hindi pwede kasi matamis yun..at marami na ako kamag-anak na nadale ng diabetes. One time my mom found it funny and weird 'coz when she bought gatorade and chuckie from the supermarket, it was me who drank all the chuckie and my younger sister who drank all the Gatorade.

4 I don't watch a lot of TV. I'm not a TV surfer. I only open the TV when the shows I watch are on. If the shows are done, i turn it off. If my shows aren't on, I really don't watch. There are only a few shows that I watch. NBA, UAAP, CSI, WWE, Hereos (if i haven't seen the episode), Kid Nation, a little bit of news, mythbusters (hehehe...geek)...yun lang.

5 When I'm bored and I'm at home, I go on a sound trip. I just open the radio, go on-line on Yahoo Launchcast or just leave my winamp playing while I sit back and drink Chuckie. Sometimes I do this with my younger sister and we'd discuss stuff about the music that we're listening to.

6 I am very close with my younger sister. I spend a lot of time with her. Sometimes we'd go to the mall, see a movie, go swimming. We're really that close, so much so that she calls me "KOOPS" (short for kupal ata..hehehehe) and I call her "WORMS" (in reference to a lower life form), and our parents are fine with it, and they'd even call us the same way sometimes.

Blog EntryRoot CanalDec 13, '07 10:40 AM
for everyone
Last December 8,2007 I had my root canal. As I've said earlier, this is one of my fears. I'm really afraid of this because of all the stories I've been hearing. But despite that, I still went ahead with it (the dentist gave me the option having my tooth extracted, hell no, I'm too young to wear false teeth).

So I went to the dentist...alone...kawawa naman ako..hehehe...I was scared and I had to go at it alone 'coz my parents had to attend to something and wormie did not want to accompany me 'coz she has a project to finish and she wanted to catch the UAAP replay that day.

When I got to the dentist's office around 15 minutes before my schedule, it turns out that they were not yet done with the other clients, there were still three people ahead of me. I had to wait extra 30 minutes. I have to say that was the longest, uneasiest, most agonizing 45 minutes that I ever had. I was really nervous already, really fidgety, palms cold and sweaty, and they had to make me wait that long!!?? COME ON!! Let's get this over with!!

Finally my time came and I went inside the room and the first thing I saw was a tool that looked like a soldering iron, which made me a bit weak in the knees hahaha....fortunately that one wasn't for me as the dentist's cute assistant (yeh!!) put that away. So I sat on the chair, she put on my bib (yeh!!),  put her hands on my shoulders (yeeeehhh!!), asked me to lean back (YEEEEAAAHHH!!)....so she could recline the chair properly so that the dentist will be able to see my tooth easily. By the way the assistant's name si April Joy, she not just an assistant, she's actually a dentist already..for two years now..I wasnt able to get more info 'coz at that point our dentist finally came in and started to put anesthetics on my tooth. Then she put out something that looked like a push pin that had a really long needle, put it up against my tooth and started turning it in screwdriver motion. At this point..Ms. April had to leave us (NOOO!!!) because she had to attend to the other patients. After about 10 minutes of drilling and gargling and spitting over and over again (no blood by the way...hehehe), the dentist made one final drilling campaign then finally, I felt something..."Sh*t that aint right..." I told myself, and as if the dentist found what she was looking for, gave me a very nasty grin, turned the push pin drill thing one last time and quickly pulled it out of my tooth then POP!! My face twitched 'coz it was really painful, that was bad. It felt like my brain got yanked out of my head through my tooth or something.

Then that was it...the pain was just there for a second or two..from then on it was smooth sailing...no more pain...the anesthetic was good, and the nerve was gone so really no more pain after that. After a few more minutes, the dentist finished up, I got up, paid her and said our goodbyes and thank yous.

I think the stories that we hear about root canal are a bit exaggerated. Yes, it was painful, but the pain is just a one time big time deal. As I write this blog, there's no more pain in my tooth, I could chew properly. The dentist also told me that the pain is not really because of the root canal procedure itself, its really because of the condition of the tooth. If the tooth is in a really really badly infected cavity laden condition, then its really going to hurt. If not, its not that bad. Plus I think the tools and techniques have improved that's why it wasnt that painful.

I would not mind getting another root canal if I have too, I think its better to keep all our natural teeth than wear false ones....So that's the root canal story...I encourage everyone to try and get one...hehehehe...just kidding...

Take care of your teeth, and visit your dentist regulary (especially if they have cute assistants)...hehehe....

Blog EntryA Nightmare come true...Dec 1, '07 3:20 AM
for everyone
Something I fear just came true...Today I went to see our family dentist because of a lingering toothache. Unlike most people that I know, I dont mind going to the dentist, I'm not scared. Not scared as long as I don't hear the two words that I fear the most hearing from a dentist. So I went there, sat on the chair as she went through the usual stuff of cleaning her hands and preparing their equipment. Then she took a look at the tooth and said "Hmmmm....this one's infected...we need to do a....." That's when I heard it ladies and gentlemen, the two dental words I fear the most...root canal!!! NOOOO!!! You've got to be kidding me. Somebody wake me up now!!! My goodness!!

Apparently, a decision two years ago was the cause of all this. Two years ago, when our family dentist was out of town and I was having tooth problems. I went to a different dentist, the son/daughter (you get the idea) of my mom's friend. I had to get a pasta and a tooth extracted cause it was out of place. So he put pasta on one tooth, then afterwards extracted the other. As the tooth was being extracted, the young dentist accidentaly nicked the tooth that he just put pasta on and it got chipped off. He went to repair it but apparently, two years later...turns out that he didn't do very well with it. Somehow it wasnt covered properly..food and bacteria crept in it and affected the tooth that's needed to be "root canaled" now.

I'm afraid of this procedure because of all the stories that I here about it. Everyone I know who had one already tells me thats its EXTREMELY painful..because the nerves of the tooth are actually being removed...although dentist told me that its not as painful as it was years ago because the medicines, equipments and techniques have vastly improved..and I pray to God she's telling the truth...

Lesson learned....this would have been avoided if I visited my dentist regularly...so I encourage everyone to follow the advice given in the Happy Teeth Song...

"Visit the dentist,
visit the dentist,
twice a year, twice a year
the dentist checks your teeth,
the dentist checks your teeth,
open wide, open wide"

Root Canal treatement set to next week December 8, 2007 (a day which will live in infamy..hehee")

I have to research on Root Canal Treatment just so I know what exactly I'm getting into...
I like the taste of those special toothpastes that the dentists use
The dentist also told me that one's gum and teeth problems most of the time are hereditary..which means that if your mom and/or dad have frequent gum and teeth problems, most likely you'll be having problems too someday....(hayy...pina-mana pa kasi sakn eh...)
Can I sue the other dentist for medical malpractice??hehe

I almost forgot to mention...our family dentist's assistant is kinda cute..I think she's new..wahehehe....at least I'll have some motivation to go back next week..hehe...

Quote of the day (I particularly like this one): "Maganda naman talaga yung teeth mo eh, its just this one tooth that's problematic.." - The dentist's cute assistant, forgot her name dammit...hehehe

for everyone

Para sa mga tumatanda na..wahehehe...

Got it from Apollo's site...Thanks bro....

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice. On Madams tombstone (of Whelan's and Madam) she said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name can be Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.  The breeze on your cheek, a second cup of coffee outside, listening to the birds sing, every sunset you can see...

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

Blog EntryRandom Thoughts #6Nov 25, '07 12:33 AM
for everyone
Its been a really long time since I updated my multiply site the reason being is that I've been extremely busy taking care of some things. Also, the past 30 days or so was work hell month..hehehe...glad that's over but I'm sure there's lots to come...

Christmas is just around the corner...I really notice that every year there less number of houses with Christmas lights and decorations...I remember when I was still a kid, BF Homes would be a lightshow and almost everyone has Christmas decorations and its only October..but now I barely see decorations outside...the Christmas atmosphere has really changed over the years...hmmm...is it because I'm getting older?

I just had a talk with my dad a few moments ago...looks like we'll be spending Christmas in Baguio, luckily I already filed my vacation leave for the Holidays hehehe...we'll be heading there after my sister's wedding...and speaking of my sister's wedding..we have less than a month till that day heheehe...and everyone here is hurrying to lose some weight (yes including me) so we could all fit in our wedding outfits and look good in the pics..wahahaha

Its nice to have something to look forward too unfortunately, before we could celebrate...we lost two relatives in a span of two weeks...my dad's sister died a couple of days before All Saints day and then two weeks later, a cousin of mine...diabetes got both of them, my tita was 51 and my cousin was 34, they will be missed...as for the rest of us...we must be extra extra careful with what we eat and our lifestyle...

My sister and I is addicted to a show called Kid Nation...its a reality show on Studio 23 (and on youTube) that involves 40 kids that were placed in a dead mining town somewhere in the US..its something like Survivor with challenges and rewards..except that noone gets voted off...you only leave if you want to..there's absolutely no Adult supervision which means that the kids get to make decisions on their own guided only by the leadership of their town council composed of 4 kids that they elect..really interesting show...you'll see different kinds of kids..smart ones...strong ones..weird ones...whiney ones..bitchy ones..hehehe....

Chris Jericho returns to the WWE..how about that...DX one night only was the funniest segment I've seen in years!!!

Hmmm...i really want to experience winter...I wonder when I'll be able to...
I have no misadventures lately...thank goodness...hehehe...
I hope the Glorietta 2 and Batasan explosion/investigations can be resolved soon...
I want a PS3...anyone willing to give that as a Christmas gift for me? hehehehe

Quote of the day: "Sabi ko nga sa anak ko buti magpapakasal na siya...kasi kung hindi IPAPA-RAFFLE ko na sya eh!!" - Mr Pio Diaz, when asked about my sister's decision to get married

for everyone

Its been more than a month since my last post here...I've been quite busy, doing this and that and going here and there...so a lot of things have happened...anyway here goes...

Grande Island Trip

We went to Grande Isand in Subic last May for our company teambuilding. Its actually my first time in Grande Island, let alone Subic...m not really a beach person as I do not have the built of beach bod...hehehe...asa pa ako..plus running around in the beach aint my ideal vacation.. i'd rather sit in freezing baguio with a blanket near a fireplace with hot choco in my hand....but i had a great time nonetheless...i was quite worried that i wont have much fun since there were only 3 of us batchmates from our training batch who were there because the outing was split into two groups, the first group would go on saturday to sunday, then the second would go on sunday to monday...there were only three of us batchmates who were in the first group, the other twelve were all on the second...the nice thing about that was were able to mingle with other people and we were able to make new friends..i'm very thankful for these people we were able to mingle with, the new friends we made, you know who you are..thanks very much for being warm and friendly and for sharing your digicam with us, wala kasi sa amin 3 nagdala ng digicam..yung isang kasama ko akala ko may dala, carrying case lang pala yun tas laman cellphone ;)) it was a nice place to be in, the cottages were scattered around the resort with a nice view of the ocean...the dinner was great! barbecue buffet!! YEAH!!..the activities were fun or rather funny because instead of rushing to the different task stations in the amazing race activity, our team took the time to fool around..to take pictures before going to the next stop plus everyone was doing the task even it only required a few number to do it...we just wanted to have fun and we did!! good place + good food + good friends = great vacation!!!

Puerto Galera trip

Just last week we went to Puerto Galera to celebrate the birthday of our officemate and batchmate Jayson. I was in the beach again..hmmm..i could get used to this...again its my first time and i have to say that I expected the place to be a lot more beautiful..m not saying its not a nice place...it is actually but I expected a little more...but its not really the place or food or whatever that you look for in a vacation..its more of the company of your friends..the bonding and the sharing..that's what matters the most...we had a blast with the banana boat...which i found out to be a difficult thing to climb onto when your in deep waters...when i finally got up on the banana boat..this "manong" who was helping us around suddenly jumped into the water and in the process accidentally kicked my hand off from where i was holding on so i lost my balance then SPLASHH!!! i fell into the water again..and the second time to get up was a looooooooooot harder than the first one..hehehe....we also had quite scare coz when we were playing volleyball...my officemate hit the ball in a wrong way and it sailed into a group of manongs drinking beer..breaking a bottle or two in the process!! "Manong, Am I gonna die??" asked my friend...hahaha joke! He offered to pay for the bottles he broke but the manong said its ok no harm done..i hope manong really meant that..or maybe it translates to "boy, ur lucky I'm too drink to beat you up! hehehe"...Emperador Brandy and Coke is a nice combination...Sea urchins are scary...the ferry boat is fun especially when you see a person getting dragged by a banana boat with his shorts down his knees.LOL..yes we really did see something like that...again...I had a blast!

MISADVENTURE: THE STINK

Ever had a day when stinky stuff tend to stick on you? I did! :)) This happened a few days ago..I was commuting to work..in a jeepney going out of Sucat Rd here in paranaque when i suddenly smelled something awfully bad...i was looking around the jeep to find the source of it but i cant seem to find it..it was really bad! hnd ako maselan sa mga bagay na ganyan pero yung amoy kaduwal-duwal talaga!! kakasuka..i couldnt take it anymore..i went down and took another jeepney...suddenly..the smell is still there..oh shit..is it me? i was looking at my pants...maybe i sat on something..my shoes...maybe i stepped on something..then this lady on the jeep beside me was looking at me in an unpleasant way with a hanky covering her nose...i think its me!!!..but strangley..when i got down at the end of sucat road..the smell is gone...i got on an aircon bus going to ayala and the smell isnt there anymore..there were lots of people in the bus, some were standing and they weren't looking at me in an unpleasant way...so i decided to close my eyes for a while and get a nap before work..suddenly..the conductor..having a hard time going thru the people standing said (referring to the standing people).. "Gilid gilid lang po..para makadaan tayo...dikit lang po para hnd kayo matumba.." Now this manang standing beside me...tama ba na idikit yung puwet niya sa shoulder ko!!! i just got a stinky smell off me and here's someone trying to rub another scent on me!! Sa upuan po ang dikit! hnd sa balikat ng tao!! when i got to the office...i quickly went to the lavatory...washed my face..combed my hair..put on my contacts and bombarded my self with my body spray!!!

Of floaters and retinas

I went to see an opthalmologist because i was seeing floaters in my eye..those are small figures that look like cobwebs or strands of hair that appear as dark spots floating in front of my vision...its been really bothering me and its quite scary actually...so i went to see an optha in healthway atc...she told me that floaters can be caused by high myopia..or near sightedness..which is actually my condition...she checked my eyes and said that there was nothing wrong with it..but she advised me to come back and get a "dilated retinal exam" so she would be able to see the back of my eye to check if there are any tears in my retina...time for a medical lesson: i learned that if you are nearsighted..the shape of your eye gets longer...as it gets longer..the retina..which is a tissue that covers a part of your eye get stretched...in effect...it gets thinner..then it could tear...it causes a floaters when a part of the retina tears off and the debris floats around the gel substance of your eye...so i got this dilated retinal exam where they drop a solution into my eye...which has a burning sensation for a few seconds...so my eye would open up...then the optha pointed a very intense bright yellow light so she could check my eye...it was quite uncomfortable and painful since my eye is fully dilated..meaning all the light gets into my eye...fortunaltely and praise God, there werent any tears in my retina..although there quite thin parts that could potentially tear..i was advised to be careful and not let my eye get hit seriously...as my retina could tear...so thank God there's noting serious...as for the floaters...doctor said i just have to live with them...the fun part of the dilated retinal exam was the after part...because of the solution dropped into my eyes, i had blurry vision and was sensitive to light for three hours :))

Of health

I had to leave work just to get my eyes checked. I was quite reluctant to do so because I have so many tasks in progress and deadlines dont get moved just because you took a sick leave..But I thought hey! its my health here w'e're talking about..task or no task..i have to get myself checked...my health is more important than my work...i wont be able to work without it anyway...I believe that we should put our health above other things...Sometimes we put off or postpone a doctor's appointment because of work or school or thesis...I suggest that we should not do that..when you think something is wrong with you..have it checked immediately! Dont put if off because of a work or school deadline! Dont be afraid to go to the doctor..i know that's quite difficult to do..its quite scary to find out what's wrong with us..but its a lot scarier if u think  there's something wrong and you dont know anything about it...at least the doctor can tell us about it...With my experience...i was quite scared to go to the optha..what if i'm told something that I dont want hear..but I just told myself.."Its a lot better to know about it than to continually be scared of it, if its not serious then good for me...if it is, I'm sure they can fix it!" Dont be scared...if we know something about it..then we wont be afraid of it right? there is no more fear of the unknown...

Chris Benoit tragedy

For wrestling fans, you know who mr. benoit is...it was tragic what happened with him and his family...I never thought that he'd be capable of that...or something like that could happen to someone you enjoy watching..man, benoit was one of the greats of wrestling...one of the best...He doesnt talk much, but he puts on one heck of wrestling match day in and day out...despite what happened...we can never take for granted the entertainment that the rabid wolverine gave us while he was still here...R.I.P Chris Benoit and family...

UAAP

I can't wait for the UAAP wars to start!! La Salle is back!! Finally...time to stomp the opposition...we're out for redemption..Let's prove that basketball championships are won on the basketball court, not inside an airconditioned conference room! Lets go all the way!! ANIMO LA SALLE!!!

Before I end there just some things i want to get out of the way...

Work has been really demanding these past few days...

Glad to see San Antonio Spurs are NBA wearing crown again, Cleveland's pre-ordained king is not ready for his..not yet LeBron...not yet....

Can't wait for Harry Potter 7

I miss school and my classmates and orgmates

Blog EntryBill Gates' Adventures in HeavenMay 22, '07 1:58 AM
for everyone

Bill Gates died and, much to everyone's surprise, went to Heaven. When he got there, he had to wait in the reception area.

Heaven's reception area was the size of Massachusetts. There were literally millions of people milling about, living in tents with nothing to do all day. Food and water were being distributed from the backs of trucks, while staffers with clipboards slowly worked their way through the crowd. Bill lived in a tent for three weeks until, finally, one of the staffers approached him. The staffer was a young man in his late teens, face scarred with acne. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with the words TEAM PETER emblazoned on it in large yellow lettering.

"Hello," said the staffer in a bored voice that could have been the voice of any clerk in any overgrown bureaucracy. "My name is Gabriel and I'll be your induction coordinator." Bill started to ask a question, but Gabriel interrupted him. "No, I'm not the Archangel Gabriel. I'm just a guy from Philadelphia named Gabriel who died in a car wreck at the age of 17. Now give me your name, last name first, unless you were Chinese in which case it's first name first."

"Gates, Bill." Gabriel started searching though the sheaf of papers on his clipboard, looking for Bill's Record of Earthly Works. "What's going on here?" asked Bill. "Why are all these people here? Where's Saint Peter? Where are the Pearly Gates?"

Gabriel ignored the questions until he located Bill's records. Then Gabriel looked up in surprise. "It says here that you were the president of a large software company. Is that right?"

"Yes."

"Well then, do the math chip-head! When this Saint Peter business started, it was an easy gig. Only a hundred or so people died every day, and Peter could handle it all by himself, no problem. But now there are over five billion people on earth. Jesus, when God said to 'go forth and multiply,' he didn't say 'like rabbits!' With that large a population, ten thousand people die every hour. Over a quarter-million people a day. Do you think Peter can meet them all personally?" "I guess not."

"You guess right."

So Peter had to franchise the operation. Now, Peter is the CEO of Team Peter Enterprises, Inc. He just sits in the corporate headquarters and sets policy. Franchisees like me handle the actual inductions." Gabriel looked though his paperwork some more, and then continued. "Your paperwork seems to be in order. And with a background like yours, you'll be getting a plum job assignment."

"Job assignment?"

"Of course. Did you expect to spend the rest of eternity sitting on your ass and drinking ambrosia? Heaven is a big operation. You have to pull your weight around here!" Gabriel took out a triplicate form, had Bill sign at the bottom, and then tore out the middle copy and handed it to Bill. "Take this down to induction center #23 and meet up with your occupational orientator. His name is Abraham." Bill started to ask a question, but Gabriel interrupted him. "No, he's not *that* Abraham." Bill walked down a muddy trail for ten miles until he came to induction center #23. He met with Abraham after a mere six-hour wait.

"Heaven is centuries behind in building its data processing infrastructure," explained Abraham. "As you've seen, we're still doing everything on paper. It takes us a week just to process new entries."

"I had to wait *three* weeks," said Bill. Abraham stared at Bill angrily, and Bill realized that he'd made a mistake. Even in Heaven, it's best not to contradict a bureaucrat. "Well," Bill offered, "maybe that Bosnia thing has you guys backed up."

Abraham's look of anger faded to mere annoyance. "Your job will be to supervise Heaven's new data processing center. We're building the largest computing facility in creation. Half a million computers connected by a multi-segment fiber optic network, all running into a back-end server network with a thousand CPUs on a gigabit channel. Fully fault tolerant. Fully distributed processing. The works."

Bill could barely contain his excitement. "Wow! What a great job! This is really Heaven!"

"We're just finishing construction, and we'll be starting operations soon. Would you like to go see the center now?"

"You bet!"

Abraham and Bill caught the shuttle bus and went to Heaven's new data processing center. It was a truly huge facility, a hundred times bigger than the Astrodome. Workmen were crawling all over the place, getting the miles of fiber optic cables properly installed. But the center was dominated by the computers. Half a million computers, arranged neatly row-by-row, half a million ....
.... Macintoshes ....
.... all running Claris software! Not a PC in sight! Not a single byte of Microsoft code!

The thought of spending the rest of eternity using products that he had spent his whole life working to destroy was too much for Bill. "What about PCs???" he exclaimed. "What about Windows??? What about Excel??? What about Word???"

"You're forgetting something," said Abraham.

"What's that?" asked Bill plaintively.

"This is Heaven," explained Abraham. "We need a computer system that's heavenly to use. If you want to build a data processing center based on PCs running Windows, then ....

.... GO TO HELL!"
